Who We Are...
The PUSH Team firmly believes in the saying “It Takes a Village to raise a child.” We believe that the personal development of young people is not an individual effort, but rather the efforts of a team comprised of parents, teachers, educators, administrators and members of the community who share a common belief that EVERY young person deserves to live in a world where they are nurtured and supported on their journeys to adulthood.
About Our Founder:
Dr. Stacy Y. Pipes-Joyner, DSW, LCSW
Dr. Joyner’s passion for serving young people stems from her own life experience as a child. Growing up in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the city of Los Angeles, she bore witness to the trials and obstacles that many in the community endure. She began her social work career working at the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. During her time with the Department, she has been on the front lines serving as a voice and advocate for one of the country’s most vulnerable populations.
Dr. Joyner is passionate about the mental health and wellbeing of today’s youth and is committed to bringing about change to current policies and practices about youth mental health and education. Dr. Joyner earned both a Doctorate and master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California, where she graduated Suma Cum Laude. She is also a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). She earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from The Ohio State University, where she also minored in Classical Vocal Performance. Dr. Joyner also has a deep love and passion for the performing arts and is a vocal coach and teacher for local children in her community. One of her goals is to open a Creative Arts Therapy Agency for troubled and at-risk youth.
Dr. Joyner is a California native who, after living in the Midwest for nine years, decided to come back to begin pursuing her life’s work in social services. She is married and is the mother of two sons, and lives in Moreno Valley, California.
